Monster Card New Year’s edition: 2023 Corey Seager

Happy New Year!

For the new year, let’s take a look at one more card for 2023. I know of at least one league manager who will enjoy this card for the year to come. It’s Corey Seager from the Texas Rangers.

2023 Corey Seager

  • 33 HR/42 doubles
  • .327/.390/.623
  • Second in AL MVP voting

Now Corey Seager did not play a full season. He clocked in 119 games for Texas in 2023. That said, his APBA is quite delicious.

Corey Seager hit 42 doubles and 33 homers in 536 plate appearances. His averages of .327/.390/.623 are pretty phenomenal and no doubt helped the Rangers to the postseason.

Seager managed 49 walks and 88 Ks in his limited time. While a good baserunner, he wasn’t exactly a base steal threat with only two stolen bases.

For his work, Seager ranked second to Shohei Ohtani in MVP voting in 2023. He also was a 2023 All-Star.

Seager’s stuff

Corey Seager’s 2023 APBA card is pretty straight forward. He has five power numbers and he has his other hit numbers on top of that. No mucky-muck with 11s or 10s.

The thing with his power numbers is this: they are all ones and sixes. He has power numbers 1-1-6-6-6. And that’s great… especially with a runner on third which gives him five homerun chances.

On top of that, Seager has a 55-7. To sweeten his card, he has four 8s along with his two 9s.

There is certainly no six on his fielding rating. Corey Seager is rated as a SS-9 which is Fielding One.

Seager’s Specifics

  • Seager has a 61-22 due to his four HBP in 536 plate appearances.
  • While Seager doesn’t have any 11s or 10s, he is rated as a fast baserunner.
  • There are three 14s and five 13s on Corey’s 2023 card. Four of the 13s are on his first column (11-26) and just one more on the rest of the card.

I hope everyone has a great 2024 and rolls a lot of 66s!
