Couple of APBA Football Nuggets

On his new APBA Football website Oguard’s Replays, Greg Barath has a new tool called a QB Completion Calculator.

Greg says:

“With that being said, it’s still fun trying to “guess” the production of a QB’s card whether it’s for an upcoming league draft or a solitaire replay. Attached is a “QB Completion Calculator” to use as a “jumping off” point to estimate the “completion percentage” based off the QB’s card.”

You can access the QB Completion Calculator at Oguard62’s Replays.

Also, Geoff aka “APBAStiller” on the APBA Between the Lines forums, is trying to drum up interest in an APBA Football-only Convention on the forum.  The current idea is to have it out in the “N.J., Md., Va. or Pa.” area.

If this is something that appeals to you, join the discussion on BTL at this thread.

Handy Tips for APBA Football Replays by Greg Barath

APBA Football fan Greg Barath was kind enough to pass on some valuable tips on conducting APBA Football replays.  Specifically, Greg hits on topics such as prepping for your replay, standardization, and your different methods of play depending on the down situation.

Greg has wrapped this all up in a MS PowerPoint presentation entitled “Conducting Season Replays and Tips for Solitaire Play” which you can download and view here.  Also included in the presentation are some handy ways to score football games as well as keeping stats for teams over a season.

This all looks very handy.  It ALMOST makes me want to try getting back into APBA Football and doing a late 70s replay again (I was a big Walter Payton fan).

Thanks Greg!!

’59 APBA Football Game on Ebay going… going…

image

Geoffrey Giordano from the APBA Football Facebook fan page found this interesting Ebay listing going for big money:

Original 1959 APBA PRO LEAGUE FOOTBALL GAME WITH 1957 SEASON CARDS Complete MINT

The bid is for a original 1959 APBA Football game with mint 1957 cards. Right now, the bid stands at $657.57 but there’s still six hours left.  If I know remember Ebay, the bidding won’t really start getting hot and heavy until there’s a few minutes left.

Update: The bidding finished at $667.57.

Into APBA Football? There’s a Facebook page for that

apba footballFor all of you who are avid APBA Football fans (and you are on Facebook), you might want to check out the Facebook page that Geoffrey Giordano has created simply called “APBA Football”.  According to Geoffrey, it’s a place “where collectors and players can share their greatest moments, memories and tips.”

Geoffrey is a longtime player and collector of the APBA Football game.  For the sake of APBA Football fans everywhere I really hope this takes off.
