Last weekend, Randy Egan’s 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers defeated Nathan Mikkelson’s 2013 Los Angeles Dodgers for the Toledo Glass City APBA Baseball tournament.  With 20 teams participating ranging from Joe Schuetz 1905 New York Giants to two teams from 2013 (including Randy’s Dodgers who went 5-1 for the day) it was a varied tourney.

Tournament participants have already expressed how much fun they had.  Phrases like “Great tournament!” and “This was such a good time. I can’t remember when I’ve ever rolled such exciting games.” are being said about tournament organizer Ron Emch’s first go-round.  It’s worth mentioning that their were a few participants who were relatively new to the game of APBA.  I know Ron made an effort to accommodate for that and it sounds like everyone had a great time.

Check out some of the action in the video that Ron uploaded to YouTube:

Below are the full results of the tournament from Ron.  Congrats again, Randy Egan!  Ron Emch, it looks like it was a success!!

I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. I had a lot of fun. Ron did a great job putting this together – I’m looking forward to playing again next year.

    • Hello Jack,

Glad you enjoyed the tournament. It seems these really are a lot of fun. Wish it were possible for some of the area champions to match up with their winning teams for a showdown.

  2. Thomas, thanks for the great write up. I had as much fun planning and organizing this as being able to play in it. I’m hoping to get up to 32 managers next year.

  3. Awesome! Thanks for posting this.
