Jack goes into a little more detail on how he’ll handle his replay:

I plan on replaying the 2007 Season solitaire. I will be using the real schedule, actual starting pitchers and actual lineups, with the exception that I will not be following player trades as they occurred. I will be using the XB and XC players, as well. Stats will be kept via the spreadsheet available on the APBA website. My expectation is that it will take several years to complete, however I look forward to the hours of rolling the dice. As my replay unfolds, I will provide end of month stats, if I may.

As a reminder of what 2007 was like, here’s the Baseball Reference page for 2007

As I said, Jack is from Tennessee so I don’t think he’s a Red Sox fan (who DO you root for if you’re from Tennessee?).  It was 2007 when the Sox took it all.  Big offensive players in the AL were ARod, Ortiz and Ordonez (that was ARod’s 54 HR season).  Looking at the NL you had Pujols, Braun and Holliday who won the batting crown with a .340 average.

Josh Beckett was the only 20 game winner in either league.  Jake Peavy won the NL ERA crown with a 2.54 ERA and no one in the AL had a mark under two (Lackey had the lowest with a 3.01 ERA).  Peavy got an A that year if memory serves and I know Lackey got the B.

Definitely should be fun year to replay for Jack.  Lots of big, fun numbers.  Good luck, Jack and keep the updates comin’!

edit:  My spellcheck tried to change “ARod” to “Aroid”.  Just sayin’.

Jack you might want to get Alex tested.

If you want to brag about your league, we’re listening!  Tell us all about the league you are in and we’ll post a profile about it.

In the meantime, read about other leagues who have written in.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Jack!

Two of our League Members are from Nashville…nice to see APBA is alive and well in good old Tennessee.

    DOM IN NY

  2. Oh, by all means, I am a sick Red Sox fan dating back to 1965. Had Yaz’ poster on my bedroom wall growing up.

Back in the day, with only three TV channels, the Baseball Game of the Week had the BoSox vs. Stankees a lot and I just started following them and have not stopped.

To date, I have played 33 games and am only just finishing April 4, so this replay will of course take a long time, for which I look forward to with zeal. BTW, Boston just lost to KC with Beckett vs. O. Perez!!! Final 3-1. I simply could not roll anything except outs for my BoSox!

The Braves with Mark Tex in the fold all season for my replay are very strong. Good Ol’ Chipper has a great card.

I’ll update more as I move along with the season.

  3. Quick update:
I have played 50 games total so far and am moving into the games of April 8. Having a lot of fun. This is my very first replay so I have no idea how long it will take me, but it does not matter in the least.
Well my last comment re: the Braves and Chipper must have jinxed him, the very next game he gets a double in his first AB, then is injured for seven games on the old 23 as he was spiked. This will hurt the Braves and they have lost two straight. The Red Sox have now lost two straight and at 1-2 are behind the Yanks and Devil Rays at 1-1. The Rays beat the Yanks in a barn-burner 12-11 with Young going 5-5 with two HRs. I really do not see the Red Sox winning the AL East right now after playing a few games, the Yankees are very strong hitting. Youkilis has already Kd 6 times in three games! I’ve had a couple of great walk offs with Utley going deep in extras (he was 0-5 prior to the AB. Finding out early anyway that pitching is taking a back seat to hitting. Very few complete games. I’ll keep posting some random thoughts as April unfolds and complete stats at the end of April.

  4. ooh tough break for Larry Wayne. Are you going with the boards or some sort of injury chart?

    • I am using the exact lineups for 2007 and the injury charts, this is a bit problematic given if a player is injured via APBA, he goes out for the required time, but if he was injured in real time in 2007, he isn’t in the lineup. So this process will have to morph a bit as the season goes along. Any suggestions out there? BTW, it is killing me not to start Ellsbury and I fear once he gets into the lineup in Sept., with his J-4 he’ll get injured and play 1 game…lol.

Been awhile since I posted, as I switched my statistical platform from the excel spreadsheet provided by APBA to the BallStat/BallScore software. I had to enter 49 games into the software which took some time and now have completed the season through April 11. I am playing every game for both NL and AL teams and logging about 30 games a week. I don’t even want to do the math on how long this will take. It is a labor of love of APBA and I really am committed to doing this.

After a 1-2 opening series loss to the #$%@ KC Royals loss at Kaufmann Stadium, my Red Sox swept a three gamer from the Rangers at Texas Stadium and the two gamer back in Fenway from the Mariners, outscoring the M’s 24-4 and demoting King Felix in game two.

League Batting Average right now is at .250, Jason Giambi leads the league with 7 homers and there have been some great extra innings games and shocking walk off wins.

I will post stats of both AL and NL at the end of April.

      Keep rolling those 66’s
