2022 Pitching Grade Challenge: a mea culpa

This is what I’m calling the “Adam Wainwright Situation”.

In the process of determining the winner of the Pitching Grade Challenge, I receive a list of the grades of the twenty pitchers involved.

There was a difference in grade with one of the pitchers (Wainwright) in the list provided to me prior to the season becoming available on APBA GO. Either there was a last minute change in the grade or simply an innocent transcription error in the list provided to me.

I took it on faith but it’s on me for failing to confirm the grades once the season became available on APBA GO.

What now?

I have manually confirmed all of the other grades on APBA GO are correct. I have also notified APBA of the discrepancy in the list and asked for clarification. Once I get an answer, I will recalculate the Challenge results. If there are changes in award winners, I will let everyone know.

I will then work with APBA to come up with a satisfactory solution.

Again apologies to everyone involved.

I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
