League Profile: 3RBL (Rock & Roll Rebels League)

It’s been a while since I’ve done a League Profile. Recently though, Joseph Elinich wrote in to tout his APBA Baseball for Windows league called the Rock and Roll Rebels Baseball League. Not only does his league use BBW but it also a retro league playing seasons from the past.

Specifically, the 3RBL has played a full season from 1955 all the way up to 1970. From their Seasons page, this was how it was set up:

We drafted twelve teams from the players of the 1955 season and retain ownership rights to twenty players from year to year.  The remainder re-enter a draft pool along with players new to the league from that season and we re-draft twelve more players for each team to form the team for that season’s play.

Joseph adds:

The 3RBL is a retro league with continuous ownership. We began with 10 franchises and expanded in 1969. We are currently playing 1971. Of our original 12, 9 franchises have won the league championship in the 16 seasons we have played.

As someone who enjoys baseball history, I’ve always been curious about retro leagues. Does anyone else participate in one?

I want to thank Joseph for letting us know about the 3RBL! There’s a lot of good info about it on their website. Check it out!

If you want to brag about your league, we’re listening!  Tell us all about the league you are in and The APBA Blog will post a profile about it.

In the meantime, read about other leagues who have written in.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
