Info on the upcoming APBA Online

For those interested in online APBA play, there was information in the latest APBA newsletter that would be of interest:

The first ever APBA Online Tournament came to a conclusion today. There were 11 teams, playing 50 games each, using the 1951 season. The tournament was close until the end and wasn’t decided until the final series. The Concreek Slugs (Jerrold Creek) ended up taking first place after leading for the majority of the tournament.

The Cooperstown Giants (George Glavas) went on a crazy run over the last couple of series to get within sniffing distance of the Slugs, but fell short at the end and had to settle for second.

The real battle was for third place, and the final spot in the prize pool. Four teams finished tied in the standings with 26 wins. In the end, on run differential, the Little Rock Roaring Weasels (Steven Daniels) went home with third place.

Honorable mention goes out to the Colorado Vipers (Bob Botelho) and the Portland Lumberjacks (Stephen Jones) who were at or near the top of the leader board all the way through but in the end found themselves out of the top 3.

There were also prizes handed out for team stats. The Motown Sliders (Ed Barclay) had the best rotation in the tournament pitching both the lowest team ERA and the most team strikeouts. The Monroe Honey Badgers (Graham Thompson) slugged their way to the highest team batting average and top team OPS prizes. The Colorado Vipers also claimed a stat prizes cracking 68 long bombs in just 50 games.

Congrats to all the winners and a big thanks to everyone that participated. The winners will be contacted shortly.

Those interested should follow APBA Online’s Twitter account @APBA_Online

I’d love to hear a review from anyone who actually took part in this!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. There should be a public poll among current APBA players with two questions.
    Do you now use twitter.
Would you register and use twitter.
