I found this week’s Monster Card while getting my 1966 card set ready for the replay. I was transferring those players traded during mid-season back to their original teams when I came across Baltimore Oriole Moe Drabowsky’s card.
Myron Walter “Moe” Drabowsky, originally from Ozanna, Poland, did his part from the mound in 1966. In 44 appearances (three of them were starts), he racked up a nice 2.81 ERA. Not only that, he struck out 98 batters in only 96 innings. For his efforts, APBA gave him a BXY for his 1966 card.
Moe Drabowsky could hit too that year and in the 60s, relievers were given more chances with the stick than they are now.

In 25 plate appearances, Drabowsky hit .364 with two doubles. He also drove in four runs and scored three times. You won’t see too many APBA managers pinch hitting for Moe. His APBA card has two 6s, four 7s, four 8s and two 9s. Aside from the requisite 14, he also has a 13-42 due to being hit by a pitch once.
Moe Drabowsky played in the majors for 17 years for eight different teams. Though he won 88 games and had a respectable 3.71 career ERA, not once did he ever make an All-Star team.
A piece of side trivia: Moe Drabowsky is one of four major league players from Poland and he is the only one since 1932.
