Courtesy of Doug Burg, an updated APBA 12 List!

A few days after I posted about the APBA Baseball Card 12 List and Publication Data Guide, Doug Burg contacted me. Doug has compiled the APBA 12 List for years and after he read that post, he sent me an updated version!

This is fantastic! As I’ve said, I use the 12 List very often to double check the year which an APBA card represents.

What’s been updated?

I did a quick comparison between the two guides and here are some of the changes and updates:

  • New seasons added up to the 2022 set. This also includes newly printed past card sets!
  • Added more recent APBA card changes made by the APBA Company (at the bottom)
  • Added and revised comments for some of the card sets

In saving it, I also removed some of the extraneous headers for aesthetic purposes.

Of course, almost all of the new card sets listed will all have ’23’ listed for their ’12’ number. However, there are a few past reprints that did not have the now familiar 23-12. In 2017 for example, APBA reprinted the 1938 season which had the 43-12.

By the way, APBA’s first year with the permanent 23-12 was… 2012. Coincidence? For that matter, we (or at least, I) don’t know if APBA had made the decision to stay with the 23-12 permanently until 2013.

On behalf of everyone who uses this guide, I want to thank Doug! This is much appreciated!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
