Chicago Cubs 1905 replay update 6/4/1905?

Chicago, IL 6/4/1905
North Side Park
The Cubs play the Pirates in the second game of today’s double header. The Cubs have been rolling and have won four straight over the Pirates and go for the sweep.

Sam Leever for the Pirates against Ed Reulbach of the Cubs. The bucs waste a big opportunity in the first and the Cubs immediately take the lead. Billy Maloney slices a liner between the gap and by the time Ganley gets to it at the wall Billy’s got a triple. Johnny Evers hits a medium depth fly to left and Maloney scores for the one run lead.

Both pitchers are throwing well, and the game is still 0-1 when Evers leads off the 4th with a soft single to center. Stealing second he has Leever unnerved. Henry Pietz who has seen a lot of playing time lately can’t stop Leever’s one hopper in the dirt and Evers takes third on the wild pitch. Art Hofman lifts a fly ball to right and for the second time the Cubs get a run on a sac fly.

Reulbach is dominating again today and while Leever is pitching well today he has no chance to win this one. Still 0-2 in the 7th the Cubs get one run on back to back hits by Joe Tinker and Frank Schulte and Johnny Kling hits yet another sac fly making the score 0-4 Chicago, which is how the game ends.

The Cubs had this one from the start. Reulbach allows just 2 hits for the third time this year getting the shutout, his 6th of the season. He was a little wild walking 3 and striking out 5. The Cubs continued to own the basepaths as well with 3 team steals.

Pittsubrgh appears to be in a freefall for the first time all year but playing the Cubs will do that to you.
