Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club gifted new card set by APBA

I got a very excited Facebook message from Brian Cavanaugh who works with the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club in the Philadelphia area.

“I came home from work today and sitting in my door was a package from APBA. I haven’t ordered anything since last summer so I knew exactly what it was. John sent the kids at the club the 2011 season cards!! This is so out of the blue, how can I possibly thank him enough for this and everything…I’m so blown away right now!!!!”

For those not familiar with Brian’s story, he’s set up an APBA league within the Boys and Girls Club and the kids involved each draft and play their own team.  Many of the kids also attended the last APBA Convention.

I posted more info about the Bridesburg League here a while back.  On behalf of the rest of the APBA community, thanks to Brian for his work (I know he has fun doing it, too) and for bringing the average age of the APBA fan down a notch!

And thanks also to John Herson and the APBA Co. for thinking of the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club.  This is the second year they’ve done this.  I’m sure money is probably scarce for the BBGC and getting the new cards really helps!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

One Comment:

  1. I love this kind of stuff. Great job, John Herson & APBA for the donation and a great big thank you to Brian Cavanaugh and anyone who does outreach work with the Boys and Girls Club or other similar organizations. There is no way to quantify how important work with at-risk kids is, and those that do this work are not given nearly enough credit for what they do.

Thank you Brian & thank you APBA!
