When I choose my first Monster Card of the year after the set comes out, I put some thought into it. And to be honest, this Ohtani card was in the running. It wouldn’t have been his first time.
When the 2024 set grades came out and the Pitching Grade Challenge 7 was over, I tabulated the results. I always like to see where I stand. Well, the good news is that I scored 80%, a bit higher than last year. Then I compared myself to everyone else.
What a year for the Pitching Grade Challenge!Sometime down the balloting process, I wondered if I made it too easy. Indeed, I think I did. There were five participants out of the record 259 voters who were 20 out of 20 perfect.
With the release of the 2024 season on APBA GO on Friday afternoon, there are new kids on the block. And some of them look pretty spiffy.
In case you missed it, the current season has been released on APBA GO. I know some cards and dice APBA fans wait until the cards come out (which will be in January) and others spring for the $20 just to see what the upcoming cards will look like.
On Friday, I got a chance to play our commissioner, Mike Bunch for our November series. I like going to Mike’s house because that was the location of my first introduction of league APBA.

Each year of the Pitching Grade Challenge, I take the Challenge myself as soon as it goes live. Of course, I am not eligible to be a winner, seeing as it’s my own contest but it is a way of keeping me honest in a way. Do I really know the game as well as I purport?
