There’s been a lot of discussion and questions lately about the latest version of APBA Baseball 5.75. The APBA Game Company has posted a FAQ today to help answer some of the questions that have probably been asked a lot. Hopefully, that will clear up some of the confusion for those of you wanting to upgrade from version 5.5.
The FAQ was helpful. It actually answered a couple questions I’ve received from blog readers:
Will it install over my 5.5 version?
No. It is a completely separate stand-alone version. The installer will not let you install into an existing active 5.5 folder. It does not use the MA_BB.ini file from previous versions so it will not interfere with your current setup. You can run both side-by-side.
Note: there IS a migration tool for your existing 5.5 disk setup.
What is required for this version?
…The minimum required version of Windows is XP-SP3 (Service Pack 3). It will run on all versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit. It has been successfully tested on the preview release of Windows 8.
It will not run on Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or any other versions of Windows earlier than XPSP3.
Many of you were wanting to make sure that it was 64-bit compatible. Indeed it is.
There’s a lot more to it including screenshots and game details. I encourage anyone interested to check it out. You can download the FAQ from APBAGames.com (pdf).
The last question is telling.
Enjoy your time off, John!
