O.Z. League Looking for Managers

Dom Provisiero says his New York-based O.Z. League is doing its annual search for managers:

New York and vicinity APBA BASEBALL: the O.Z. League, founded in 1983, is conducting its annual search for new members. Anyone from the East Coast that is looking for a fun league to join contact me so we can get you a franchise.

New Web Site for Francis Rose

Francis Rose has a new web site up and running at http://www.66connection.com/. Francis insists this is not a money making venture but rather an interactive “resource for materials”.

Francis has also volunteered his site to put up ads for leagues looking for managers. That’s a gaping void that is now being filled. There’s one up already for the 21st Century Baseball Association.

With the closing of the Geocities web hosting service, YABL has had to relocate their fine website. You can now find them at http://webspace.webring.com/people/fb/burgda/. Important not only to find out about their league but for another reason. League member and webmaster Doug Burg maintains the APBA Baseball Card 12 List and Publication Data web page. So many times APBA fans ask me if there is a way to identify their APBA cards… to find out what year they are. I always point them to Doug’s APBA Card 12 List page. Very handy.

Not many times can you say that one player remains with the same APBA league team for 19 seasons. Such is the case with Tom Glavine who has played for my Twin Cities Thunderchickens since 1991. Glavine pitched his last game for the Illowa APBA League last Saturday.

He retires with an Illowa win-loss record of 241-195. I posted a tearful farewell to Glavine over at the Illowa APBA League’s web site.

It might be asking the world but Kindle Nation Daily would like to see some Kindle apps based on APBA, Strat-o-matic etc. I’m not holding my breath.

A new blog… APBA Baseball Replays

I’ve run across a new APBA blog out there called APBA Baseball Replays billing itself as “replaying baseball history with the APBA game engine”. I admit my blog is a bit heavy on APBA league stuff and bit light on the topic of APBA replays so I think is awesome.

APBA Baseball Replays also has seems to have a pretty good handle on topics relating to Baseball for Windows (BBW) something I could tell you very little (being a dice and boards person).
